Here we go!

This entry will be for several days of research. I have been inactive in genealogical research for about five years and found myself acting like a kid in a candy store. Here you will see how I have tried to correct myself in this haphazard research.

August 15, 2004
On Ancestry.com
1. Found Hector O Wright 1930 AZ - see power notes - saved image /mydoc/gen/wrights/mywrights/HectorO1930.jpg

From Power Notes:
Search for Hector O. Wright, gson of William & Rebecca Wright, son of Alfred & Louvenia Wright.
1930 Census - Coconino Co., AZ, Parks Precinct 24, enumeration district 3-35, dwell 21/fam 21 (image 2 of 2 online at ancestry.com)
Wright, Hector O. Head m/w 68 TN TN TN *
Ellie wife f/w 58 TX MISS TX**
* owns home, fam lives on farm, md, age 27 at 1st marriage, can read/write
** md, age 18 at 1st marriage, can read/write

Saved image of census /mydocuments/genealogy/wrights/mywrights/HectorO1930.jpg

Why? Trying to locate the census image I had saved earlier to mydoc../gen../wrights/mywrights/Ourhectormaybe.jpg. The image is too blurred to read. I might have mislabeled it - probably should be "our Leander" - will to check it out.

Still don't know where the image I have named "ourHectorMaybe" came from - should have made notation on properties when I saved it.

2. Looked for Susan Cox 1900-1910 - no luck again. Tried looking for H E & Kelly Myrtle Barker - neg.

3. Found Susan Cox 1910, liv with dau Lee & Ira Hickinbottom - Fannin Co TX, ED 33, p 124b, Sup Dist 4, Enum Dis 33 - image 18, Ancestry.com Saved 2 images /mydoc/genealogy/Beaty/GrandmaCox1910

4. Tried looking for "Sue Cox" and James (Jim) B, or Bruner Cox in 1900 - no luck. Where were they?

August 16, 2004
1. recorded data on Hector O Wright in Wright TMG project

2. Cleaned up a Wright Message board text I had saved on Brunswick Co VA Robert Wright. One more to go. Originally saved in /mydoc/genealogy - new file saved in /mydoc/genealogy/wrights/varwrights

3. searched TX mar records online for Hector & Ellie Wright's marriage about 1889 - found an Alfred Wright mar in Rusk Co, TX in 1874 - wonder who he is. Did not find Hector - will try AZ

4. Located the file for the image "ourhectormaybe" I had saved. It was in Bell Co, TX 1910 - think he's too old for our Hector but may check on it. No Hector Wright in 1900 index, only 2 white Hector's in 1880 - ours and one in Michigan but he was 29 in 1880 and too old for the one in 1910.

5. Identifying gedcoms I've downloaded - what family, who was the submitter, etc. Need to remember to do this EVERY time I download a file.

NOTE: tomevcan@earthlink.net researching William Riley Jordan's family, has Isaac Spark and his family. Has Isaac's father as Isaac Sparks - nfi on Sparks

6. Thinking of Isaac Sparks - did some searching for his father. Found an I. C Sparks, wife Eliz. in Menard Co, TX 1880 - w/son Isaac age 6 and a bro Riley S Sparks, age 1 - hmmm!
Enough for lateral lines now!

7. Well after stating I WASN't going to download any files w/o identifying them I found one I obviously downloaded early this morning. I identified this afternoon plus one more. I think that gets all of the Gedcoms.

8. Imported Bob Zimmerman's Gedcom on Overton Co Wrights (connected to our family) - well that didn't work- fouled up TMG.I guess it is too big. Will try again.

9. Tried to determine where I got an old TMG project called OTHERRIGHTS - finally decided I had created it from census data I had - only one family in it - from Anderson Co TN 1850. Obviously, I was just getting started.

August 18, 2004

Yesterday was just a "wipe out." Spent 5 HOURS at the beauty shop with Debbie and Megan. I loved being with the two of them that long, but not at the Beauty Shop. Accomplished absolutely NOTHING! On top of that, I hadn't slept the night before and I was exhausted. Megan came to spend the night and I was so tired I kept dozing off while we were watching the Olypmics. Today has got be better.

1. Cleaned up files named ROBERT.WPD I had in two different places. These are my old notes on searching for Robert Wright.

2. Online, in searching for census records for Rufus W Wright, collected data for the Moses Wright who was son of Robert Wright & Nancy Dale, Moses also had son named Rufus. Very strong possibility connected to family.

3. Back online looking for Moses B Wright (Right) in 1850 & 1860. Also checking for Family files. No luck. Isn't anyone researching my same family lines?

4. Searched 1830 Anderson Co TN census page by page looking for Sarah Hutcherson (md Moses B Wright) family - did not find but did find several other families of interest, including a Wm Wright and a Nancy Wright.

Well, I've gotten quite a bit of information on the Dale & Overton families of Anderson Co. Has to be a connection. I think the other son of Robert Wright and Nancy Dale was Alfred - don't know where that leaves William, though.

Searching on internet for other children of Moses and Margaret (Edmondson) Wright.

1. Aaron Wright - I had a marriage for an Aaron Wright in Surry Co NC in 1792 with no bride's name. This marriage is also on Ancestry.com - but with additional info I did not extract - ie. bondsmen were David Riggs & Thos York.

2. Aaron Wright in 1810Surry Co, NC, (I have this in QAWin but can't use that program on Windows XP).
Aaron Wright - 301102201001
neighbors: Walter Franklin, Moses Pain, Elizabeth Isaacks, James Deere (?), Jesse Canada, AARON, John Stone, Joseph Thompson, Obed Snow, Samuel Kanady, Larkin Halbrook, Aaron Kanady. (image 39 of 72)

3. Aaron Wright, 1820 Surry Co., NC, Capt Patters District (image 3 of 4 - names in alphabetical order)
Aaron Wright - 210401 - 01301

Capt Patters Dist (image 4 of 4)
Elizth Wright - 00000000001

Also in Surry Co in 1820 were:
page 684 Capt Hudspeths Dist. (image 4 of 4)
John Wright - 0002100001
Thomas Wright - 00000120201
Ann Wright - 00000000001

page 742 John G Poindexters District (image 5 of 5)
Thomas Wright - 100200101

4. No Aaron in 1830 Surry Co - the following Wrights are in Surry Co in 1830:
page 83a (image 1 of 154)
John Wright - 0010111 - 0000001

page 84 (image 3 of 154)
William Wright - 20001 - 10001
Anthony Wright - 01110001 - 0001001

page 87a (image 9 of 154)
Moses Wright - 11001-110001

page 100 a (image 35 of 154)

p102a (image 40 of 154)
Daniel S Wright - 112001- 100001

page 113a (image 61 of 154)
Thomas B Wright - 100021 - 200001

page 146a (image 127 of 154)
Mary Wright - 0001 - 00012001 - possibly widow of Aaron as there is a Snow, Franklin & Pain families on same page (see 1810 census)

NOTE: May be after the wrong Aaron - at least one gedcom on Ancestry.com has the Surry Co Aaron married to a Mary Murphy. The Mary of 1830 Surry Co would fit the Mary Wright I presumed to be the widow of Aaron Wright. Gedcom also shows that this Mary Murphy was the unknown bride of Aaron in 1792 Surry Co marriages. Submitter's name is Lynda E. Gibbs, lynda2@bellsouth.net. The gedcom was last updated Aug 1, 2004. According to the Autobiography of Rev. A. B. Wright, Aaron Wright married a Pritchard.

NOTE2: Only 1 Aaron Wright listed in indexes to 1810 & 1820 Census - the one in Surry Co, NC. Surely Moses Wright's son Aaron would be living somewhere at that time. Others listed in MA, NH, NY & PA

5. Let's try looking for Prichard's in early NC census records
1800 Surry Co NC, Salisbury (image 72 of 73)
Phil Prichard - 01001- 11001
Zach Prichard - 1001 - 101

The Wright Search

Have you tried "blogging" before? I've done some blogging in regards to my needlework, but now I want to "blog" my family research. I've started working on my genealogy again and have been keeping a "diary" of what I've done each day and why. Part of my internet search has been viewing the various message boards trying to locate other people searching for my same family lines. I was floundering for awhile and ignoring the good habits I used to practice in my genealogy search. So, I started keeping a record. I thought that perhaps some of you might like to share this experience. If you decide to keep a "blog" also we can create a web ring to view each others thoughts.

I've just come home for a brief vacation and will be starting my search again in the next day or two. I will start with the first few days of notes that I've kept and then add to them on a timely basis. If you see ANYTHING that sounds familiar please contact me at jjordan2@ix.netcom.com
